Title of the invention: COOKING APPARATUS OF THE HOT AIR FRYER TYPE PROVIDED WITH A BASKET COMPRISING DEFLECTORS
Technical area
The present invention relates to cooking appliances, more specifically cooking appliances of the hot air fryer type for cooking food using very little oil, if at all oil.
The invention relates particularly to such cooking appliances of the hot air fryer type which include deflectors optimizing the circulation of hot air in a cooking chamber of the device, this chamber receiving a basket in which the food to be cooked is placed. Optimizing the circulation of hot air ensures more even cooking of food in the basket.
A main objective of the invention is to optimize the design of these deflectors.
State of the art
Hot air cooking devices, for example of the hot air fryer type, are known to those skilled in the art. Such cooking appliances make it possible to greatly reduce the amount of fat, or even to eliminate it completely, during the cooking of food which may be of vegetable or animal origin, for example french fries, vegetables, meat or fish. . In fact, cooking is done with little or no oil thanks to hot air circulating in a cooking chamber, which allows consumption of more dietetic foods.
Such a cooking appliance generally comprises a shell and a tank; the tank receives a basket in which food to be cooked is arranged. Once the food is placed in the basket and it is positioned in the tank, the shell of the cooking appliance can be closed to form a cooking chamber incorporating the tank, the basket and the food. Hot air is then blown into this cooking chamber by means of a heating device and an air circulation device, the circulation of hot air in the chamber thus cooking the food.
The air circulation device comprises a fan which makes it possible to draw in fresh air from a fresh air inlet arranged on an outer wall of the shell of the cooking appliance, this fresh air being conveyed to the cooking chamber through the heating device. The hot air in the cooking chamber enters the tank and passes through the perforated bottom of the basket which is placed in this tank. The fan then allows this hot air to be evacuated from the cooking chamber by extracting it by a hot air outlet arranged on the outer wall of the shell.
Most cooking appliances have the drawback of not ensuring uniform cooking of the food in the basket. Indeed, the hot air passes through the perforated bottom of the basket in a random manner, which generates a poor distribution of the heat cooking the food in the basket.
To overcome this drawback, some cooking appliances of the hot air fryer type provide an arrangement of deflectors in the bottom of the tank. These deflectors, of curved shape, extend from the contour of the tank and meet at the center of the bottom of said tank. The European patents EP2347186B1 and EP3162259B1 and the international patent application WO2017215988A1 present such cooking appliances.
Other cooking appliances of the hot air fryer type provide deflectors arranged below the bottom of the basket. These curved deflectors extend from the outline of the perforated bottom of the basket and meet at the center of said bottom. The German utility model DE202014103133U1 and the Chinese patent application CN103536188A present such cooking appliances.
An advantage of the arrangement of the deflectors under the bottom of the basket rather than in the bottom of the tank, is to allow the production of certain recipes for cooking food directly in the tank, and not in the basket. Indeed, this can be envisaged for cooking appliances on which the tank is removable from the cooking enclosure, which is the case in particular for cooking appliances of the hot air fryer type comprising a tank and a basket which s engage on the cooking appliance like a drawer.
Although these deflectors in the bottom of the tank or under the bottom of the basket tend to homogenize the cooking of food placed in the basket thanks to the turbulence generated in the bottom of the basket, the Applicant has found that the food arranged in central part in the basket remains less cooked than those placed in the peripheral part in the basket. Indeed, the food in the basket is cooler and cook less well in the center of the basket.
Statement of the invention
The main purpose of the hot air fryer type cooking appliance according to the invention is to optimize the design of the deflectors in order to obtain uniform cooking of the food in the basket, so that all the food placed in the basket - including those in the center of the basket - are cooked in the same way.
As such, the cooking appliance of the hot air fryer type, object of the invention, comprises a cooking enclosure incorporating a tank and a basket housed in a removable manner in said tank. The basket includes a perforated bottom and a contour wall, defining a container which allows the reception of food during cooking and its handling in order to place it with the basket in the tank and to extract them from the latter. The appliance also includes a heating device and an air circulation device configured to supply hot air to the cooking chamber by circulating said hot air in the tank and through the perforated bottom of the basket. Such characteristics are known on cooking appliances of the hot air fryer type of the prior art.
Remarkably, according to the device which is the subject of the invention, the basket comprises deflectors arranged under the bottom of the basket and distributed at a distance from each other, said deflectors comprising a body extending in the same direction as the wall around the basket. In other words, the basket wall extends in a vertical direction under normal conditions of use where the appliance is placed on a horizontal work surface and the body of each deflector also extends in height at vertically and down below the bottom of the basket. In addition, the body of each deflector has a first part arranged near the wall of the basket outline and a second part arranged away from the wall of the basket outline but near the center of the bottom of the basket, the second parts of the deflectors being spaced from each other and comprising interrupted ends at a central zone extending under the bottom of the basket. In other words, the body of the deflector extends in length under the bottom of the basket more or less from the wall of the outline of the basket and in the direction of the center of the bottom of the basket, the ends of the bodies of the deflectors arranged near the center of the bottom of the basket being spaced from each other and stopped at a perimeter of the central area under the bottom of the basket. This design of the deflectors creates turbulence in the bottom of the basket to homogenize the cooking by forcing the air flow further through the central area under the bottom of the basket.
According to a preferred embodiment, the device object of the invention comprises a ring fixed to the second parts of the bodies of the deflectors. This makes it possible to stiffen the deflectors with one another in order to prevent them from vibrating under the effect of the flow of hot air and from generating noise, particularly when the bodies of these deflectors are made up of thin plates. likely to flex easily under the hot air flow. This does not exclude the implementation of variant embodiments, without a ring and preferably with thicker deflector bodies.
According to this abovementioned embodiment of the device, the surface delimited by the ring is preferably greater than the surface of the central zone. In other words, the ring is of diameter greater than the diameter of the central zone, the ring being fixed on the deflectors other than at the ends of the second parts of the bodies of the deflectors, said ends being positioned on said diameter of the central area.
According to an embodiment of the device object of the invention, the first body part of each deflector comprises an end disposed beyond the wall of the basket outline. In other words, the first part of each deflector extends longitudinally outwards beyond the contour wall of the basket. This advantageously makes it possible to suck the hot air swirling between the basket and the tank, in which said basket is housed, so as to return this hot air under the bottom of the basket and towards the central zone.
According to an embodiment of the device object of the invention, the first part and the second part of the body of each deflector are curved, the first part having a curvature reversed with respect to the second part. This shape of the deflector body promotes the circulation of hot air under the bottom of the basket towards the central area. This does not exclude the implementation of other curved shapes for the body of the deflector, or even a flat body without curve, without departing from the scope of the invention.
According to an embodiment of the device object of the invention, the deflectors are connected to a lower edge of the wall of the basket outline. Variants are however possible by connecting the deflectors at the bottom of the basket. Preferably, according to this embodiment, the deflectors and the contour wall of the basket come from a single piece, which avoids additional assembly of the deflectors with the contour wall. Preferably, according to this embodiment, the perforated bottom comprises a removable grid supported by the upper edges of the deflectors and if necessary supported by the ring fixed to the second parts of the deflectors. In fact, since the deflectors are connected to the wall of the basket outline, it is possible to use them as a support for the removable grid. In the presence of a ring and according to the position thereof vis-à-vis the second parts of the bodies of the deflectors, said ring may also participate in the support of the removable grid. Thus, it is not necessary to provide additional support tabs on the basket contour wall to support the removable grid, unlike the prior art.
Variants of apparatus according to the invention can however be envisaged by providing separate parts for the deflectors and the contour wall and by assembling said parts so as to connect them together. Such an assembly would in particular keep the possibility of removing the deflectors from the basket, for example to facilitate their cleaning or, if necessary, their replacement. According to these alternative embodiments, assembly means are arranged between each of the deflectors and the lower edge of the wall surrounding the basket. Preferably, these assembly means are chosen from a clip system, a bayonet system and a fitting system.
According to an embodiment of the device object of the invention, the lower edges of the bodies of the deflectors are in the same plane and form supports for stably placing the basket on a support plane. Preferably, according to this embodiment, the basket includes a handling handle which has a lower end which is in the same plane as that in which the lower edges of the deflector bodies are inscribed. In this case, the end of the handle constitutes a complementary support to the supports formed by the lower edges of the bodies of the deflectors. Variants are however possible with a handle end which is arranged above the plane in which the lower edges of the deflector bodies are inscribed, which also allows the basket to be placed stably in the middle of the support plane without the end of the handle does not abut against said support plane. Indeed, a handle that is too long with its end disposed below the plane in which the lower edges of the deflector bodies are inscribed would require placing the basket on the edge of the support plane to prevent the end of the handle from abutting against this support plane, which would compromise the stability of said basket placed on the support plane.
According to an embodiment of the device object of the invention, the tank comprises a bottom and a contour wall provided with an upper edge. In addition, the basket comprises a support tab bearing on said upper edge of the tank to support the basket housed in the tank so that the lower edges of the bodies of the deflectors are kept at a distance from the bottom of the tank. This avoids any contact of the deflectors under the bottom of the basket with the bottom of the tank, thus avoiding scratching said bottom of the tank.
The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a basket of a cooking appliance of the hot air fryer type having any of the above characteristics. The process includes the following steps: - having a metal sheet,
- cut the contour wall and the deflectors on the metal sheet,
- fold the metal sheet thus cut to form the contour wall and the deflectors.
Thus, the deflectors and the wall of the outline of the basket are formed in one and the same piece and implemented by cutting and folding a metal sheet, the longitudinal edges of the cut sheet being joined and fixed together. after folding said cut sheet.
According to one embodiment of the method, the cutting of the metal sheet is carried out by laser cutting. Variants are possible, for example a press cutting, which may require deburring the edges cut on the metal sheet.

Detailed description of the invention
In the following description, the cooking appliance consists of an example of a hot air fryer, other designs of existing hot air fryers and which may also include the essential characteristics which are the subject of the present invention which will be detailed below.
In the following description, the term fryer will be used to name the cooking appliance, unless indicated in the text.
Referring to Figure 1, the cooking appliance 1 of the hot air fryer type comprises a shell 2 having an outer wall 3 provided with a rear wall 3a opposite to a front face of this cooking appliance 1 hot air fryer type. This front face allows the insertion of a tank 4 and a basket 5, like a drawer, in a cooking enclosure 6 arranged inside the shell 2, the tank 4 and the basket 5 being handled by means of a handling handle 7. This handling handle 7 makes it possible not only to handle the basket 5 alone to place it in the tank 4 or remove it from said tank 4, but also to fix the basket 5 in position in the tank 4 so as to concomitantly handle the tank 4 with the basket 5 for their simultaneous insertion into the cooking enclosure 6 and their removal from said cooking enclosure 6, in the manner of a drawer. A heating device 8 is arranged inside the shell 2, above the cooking enclosure 6. An air circulation device 9 allows fresh air to be drawn in through an inlet air 10 which is arranged on the rear wall 3a; this fresh air is sent to the heating device 8 in order to be heated then, once heated, to the cooking chamber 6. This hot air enters the tank 4 then into the basket 5 passing through the bottom of the basket 5. The hot air is then discharged outside the cooking appliance 1 of the hot air fryer type, by an air outlet 11 arranged on the rear wall 3a. The air circulation device 9 comprises a fan 12 making it possible to convey the air from the air inlet 10 to the air outlet 11. These general characteristics are known on cooking appliances of the fryer type hot air currently on the market, reasons why they will not be detailed; a person skilled in the art may for example refer to the hot air cooking appliances developed by the applicant, for example that marketed under the name FRY DELIGHT®. As mentioned above, the cooking appliance 1 of the hot air fryer type illustrated in FIG. 1 is of the drawer type, but it is possible to implement the invention on other designs of cooking appliance of the fryer type. with hot air, in particular those of the cover type, such as for example those sold by the applicant under the name ACTIVERY®.
The following description endeavors to highlight the essential characteristics of the invention which relate in particular to the design of deflectors below the bottom of the basket 5.
With reference to Figures 2 and 3, the basket 5 comprises a contour wall 13 and an openwork bottom 14. The openwork bottom 14 consists of a grid 15 which is removable in order to facilitate its cleaning or to allow its replacement by another grid adapted to another type of food to be cooked. The basket 5 comprises four deflectors 16 which are arranged below the grid 15, when the latter is in place on the basket 5; the deflectors 16 are distributed uniformly under this grid 15. These deflectors 16 each comprise a body 17 of thin thickness which has a curved shape, said body 17 being arranged in the extension of a lower edge 18 of the contour wall 13. In in other words, under normal conditions of use where the cooking appliance 1 of the hot air fryer type is placed on a support surface, for example a table or a kitchen surface, the contour wall 13 of the basket 5 extends vertically vertically and the body 17 of each deflector 16 also extends vertically and downwards, below the lower edge 18 of the contour wall 13.
With reference to Figures 2, 3 and 6, the body 17 of each deflector 16 comprises a first part 19 and a second part 20 which include reverse curvatures. The first part 19 of the body 17 is positioned near the lower edge 18 of the contour wall 13 and is connected to said lower edge 18. This first part 19 of the body 17 has an end 21 which extends towards the outside of the basket 5, beyond the contour wall 13. The second part 20 of the body 17 moves away from the contour wall 13, while approaching towards the center of the perforated bottom 14 of the basket 5. This second part 20 of the body 17 has an end 22 which is stopped at the perimeter 23 of a central zone 24 represented by a fictitious circle C1 passing through all the ends 22 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16. The ends 22 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16 are distant from each other and uniformly distributed around this fictitious circle Cl. The interruption of these ends 22 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16 at the perimeter 23 of the central zone 24 promotes the supply of hot air at the level of said central zone 24, said hot air is t sucked through the perforated bottom 14 of the basket 5 by the admission of the fan 12. The ends 21 of the first parts 19 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16 are positioned near a contour wall 25 of the tank 4 when the basket 5 is housed in said tank 4, as illustrated in FIGS. 6 and 7, which makes it possible to suck in the swirling hot air which is discharged by the fan 12 and which circulates between the contour wall 13 of the basket 5 and the wall contour 25 of the tank 4, so as to bring this swirling hot air towards the central zone 24, under the perforated bottom 14 of the basket 5.
Referring to Figure 4, the contour wall 13 and the deflectors 16 of the basket 5 are implemented from a metal sheet 26 which is laser cut to obtain cutting precision, without burrs . Once the metal sheet 26 has been cut, the latter being as illustrated in FIG. 4, said metal sheet 26 is folded so as to give the curved shape to the deflectors 16 and to form said contour wall 13 of the basket 5, the ends 26a, 26b of the metal sheet 26 being joined and fixed together according to various known assembly techniques, for example by riveting, welding or crimping.
With reference to Figures 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7, the second parts 20 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16 are joined together by means of a ring 27 which is welded to the upper edges 28 of said bodies 17. These upper edges 28 each comprise a small cavity 29 in which the ring 27 is housed, which makes it possible to partially embed said ring 27 in said upper edges 28. This ring 27 has a diameter greater than that of the fictitious circle C1 of the central zone 24, so that said ring 27 is disposed at a distance from the ends 22 of said second parts 20 of the bodies 17. This ring 27 allows the second parts 20 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16 to be stiffened together.
With regard to Figures 2 and 3, in particular, the removable grid 15 rests on the upper edges 28 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16 and on the ring 27. Thus, it is not necessary to use tabs additional support to maintain the grid 15, unlike the prior art. The ring 27 could be positioned differently on the second parts 20 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16, for example at the lower edges 30 of said bodies 17; in this case, the grid 15 would be fully supported by the upper edges 28 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16.
With reference to Figures 5 to 7, the contour wall 25 of the tank 4 comprises an upper edge 31 on which is arranged a notch 32. The tank 4 comprises a front 33 fixed to the front side of the contour wall 25 This facade 33 comprises on its upper side a reception zone 34 communicating with the notch 32. The basket 5 comprises a support tab 35 which is fixed on the front side of the contour wall 13 of said basket 5. This tab support 35 is assembled with a body 36 of the handling handle 7. When the basket 5 is housed in the tank 4, the body 36 of the handling handle 7 is positioned in the receiving zone 34 on the front 33 and the tab support 35 comes to bear against the notch 32 arranged on the upper edge 31 of the contour wall 25 of the tank 4. In this position, the support tab 35 maintains and stops the basket 5 in the tank 4, so that the lower edges 30 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16 remain away from the bottom 37 of the tank 4, so as not to risk scratching said bottom 37 when the basket 5 is placed in the tank 4.
With reference to Figures 2 to 4, the lower edges 30 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16 are positioned in the same plane P. Similarly, the lower end 38 of the handling handle 7 is also arranged in this same plane P. Thus, the lower edges 30 of the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16 and the lower end 38 of the handling handle 7 constitute supports coming into contact with the support surface (not illustrated), for example a table or a kitchen plan , on which the basket is placed during the placement of the food to be cooked and during the removal of the cooked food.
Variants are possible within the scope of the invention. In the example described above with the support of Figures 1 to 7, the basket 5 includes four deflectors 16; the number of deflectors 16 could however vary, for example between two and six deflectors 16.
The contour wall 13 of the basket 5 and the deflectors 16 are implemented in one piece; however, separate parts could be provided, the deflectors 16 being in this case either fixed to the lower edge 18 of the contour wall 13, for example by riveting, welding or crimping, or assembled detachably to said lower edge 18 by means assembly. These assembly means are chosen from a clip system, a bayonet system and a fitting system. The clip system can be implemented directly between the upper edge 28 of the body 17 of each deflector 16 and the lower edge 18 of the contour wall 13 of the basket 5 which are clipped into one another or by the intermediate spring clips for example mounted on the contour wall 13 and clipping respectively on the bodies 17 of the deflectors 16. The bayonet system can be implemented directly between the upper edge 28 of the body of each deflector 16 and the edge lower 18 of the contour wall 13 of the basket 5, for example by performing a quarter turn or a half-turn rotation of the deflectors to ensure their assembly with the contour wall 13 of the basket 5. The system of fitting can be implemented for example by providing a grooved rod on the upper edge 28 of the body 17 of each deflector 16 and grooved housings on the lower edge 18 of the contour wall 13 of the basket 5, the grooved rods and the fluted housing s being designed to ensure a tight mounting by fitting of said deflectors 16 on said contour wall 13 of basket 5, in a defined position similar to that of FIGS. 2 and 3.
One could also provide a handling handle 7 whose lower end 38 would be positioned above the plane P, in which case only the lower edges 30 of the deflectors 16 would constitute supports for stably placing the basket 5 on a support plan.
